There are 4 categories of Employer sponsored migration to Australia:

  • Employer Nomination scheme (ENS)
  • Regional Sponsored Migration scheme (RSMS)
  • Labour Agreements
  • Invest Australia Supported Skills program

All these programs are employer driven. The first 3 programs enable Australian Employers to select and recruit highly skilled workers, either from Overseas or from people temporarily in Australia, where an employer has been unable to fill their recruitment needs from the Australian Labour market or through their own training efforts. The IASS program enables the employers (who have an approved IASS agreement) to transfer key managerial and specialist employees of their organization to Australia.

Criterion to apply for these categories:

All prospective applicants must first be nominated by the Australian Employer. This nomination should be received by a department of Immigration and Multicultural affairs business center in Australia. Upon approval of this nomination the employer will advise the nominee and provide them with a copy of nomination approval letter from DIMA. The nomination should be lodged before or at the same time as the visa application.

Other requirements:

The applicant nominee should have passed the vocational Level of English and or functional level of English – IELTS.

Qualification Assessment:

  • The applicant nominees qualifications need to be assessed in case:
  • The applicant has not worked in the occupation in Australia for 2 years before applying or
  • The applicants base salary will be less than the specific figure as mentioned in the Guide lines set by DIMA.
  • Registration, Licensing or membership of a professional body is mandatory in the proposed field of employment.
