Canada Makes It Easy for Permanent Residents to Become Citizens

Changes to the Citizenship Act, Bill C-6, will become effective next week from October 11th. Thereafter, permanent residents of Canada will enjoy simpler, quicker citizenship / naturalization process.

Ahmed Hussen, Canada's Minister of Immigration was speaking on October 4th in Brampton, Ontario. He stated that these changes have been long awaited and it will make it easier to become citizen of the country.

2,757 and 2,801 Candidates Invited in October Express Entry Draws

October 18th, 2017, The latest Express Entry draw for immigration to Canada has taken place, with 2,757 candidates in the pool invited to apply on October 18. The number of Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points required in order for a candidate to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) on this occasion was 436, down from the 438 required in the previous draw, which took place on October 4.

31 More Candidates Invited by Manitoba to Apply for Business Immigration

31 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued by the government of Manitoba on September 29th under the Manitoba Business Stream (MPNP-B) which forms part of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP).

Candidates who have been invited to apply to immigrate to Manitoba in the latest draw had scored between 90 and 95 points under the unique points grid from MPNP-B.

21 candidates of the total of 31 that were invited had scored 90 points and the rest of the 10 had scored between 91 to 95 points.

349 Candidates Invited by Manitoba to Apply for Provincial Nomination

The province of Manitoba carried out a draw on September 26 and a total of 349 skilled workers were invited to come and settle down permanently in the province. The invited candidates along with family members will be able to apply for a provincial nomination by way of the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP).

Once the nomination is received, these people will then be able to apply for permanent residency status with the federal government.

Easy Entry for Business Visitors to Canada as CETA comes into effect

Free trade between European Union (EU) and Canada started on September 21st, and this has increased business opportunities. It is a good news for independent professionals, services suppliers, and short term business visitors who work in Canada.

The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) is a free trade agreement between EU, its member states and Canada. This move will eliminate 98% of the tariffs between the EU and Canada.

The “provisional application” from CETA was brought into effect from September 21, though it is yet to be ratified by many member states.

Immigrate Your Parents to Canada through PGP

The Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP) from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will invite more sponsors of foreign parents and grandparents to deposit their application.

The next round of invitation will start from September 6th and will remain open for few days. It will be the second time in 2017 that the PGP will be opened by IRCC. The first time this program was opened was in April and potential sponsors who were not able to submit their application will now have a second change to submit their application.

September 20th Express Entry Draw Made Slight Decrease in CRS Cut-off

20th September, Canada carried out the Express Entry draw on September 20th, 2017 and the cut-off for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) stood at 433 points. All those candidates who acquired 433 or more points were sent the Invitation to Apply (ITA).

Ever since the changes were made to the system in early June, this was one of lowest CRS cut-off. It was lower than the last Express Entry draw which was held on September 6th, 2017.

September 6 Express Entry Draw Sent ITA to 2,772 Candidates

Canada held the Express Entry draw on 6th September, which is the 71st draw since the new immigration system has come into effect and it is the first of this month.

The cut-off for the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) points stood at 435, which is one point higher as compared to the cut-off for the previous draw. Invitation to Apply (ITA) was issued to those candidates who were selected in the latest Express Entry draw and they will now be in a position to submit their application to become the permanent resident of Canada.

Learn to Improve Your Profile and Ranking in Express Entry Pool

Some aspiring immigrants to Canada have already climbed the first important step for immigration and submitted their profile in Express Entry pool.

Only those candidates who are eligible under the federal economic immigration program of Canada are able to submit their profile in the Express Entry Pool.

Candidates who are there in the pool are ranked as per the points obtained by them in Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). These points are given to eligible candidates based on a number of factors, such as:

Immigration Tech Pilot Program Launched by BC

The Canadian province of British Columbia (BC) wants to bring in more graduates and workers in the technology sector to the province to meet the demand for talent.

The new Tech Pilot forms part of the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) which is one of the Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) of Canada. Through this pilot program, candidates who are eligible and have a job offer in any of the 32 eligible occupations can be invited to apply for a provincial nomination. This can then be used in applying for permanent residency of Canada.
