Australia Makes Major Changes in Its Visa Program

Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has announced that the Federal government will abolish the 457 visa and will be replaced by two new visas.

These changes will not have any effect on the current visa holders. The two new temporary class visas will include a specialized four years visa targeted at higher skills and a two year visa.

Mr Turnbull stated that the new system will work in the national interest in a resolute manner.

Canada to Make Changes in Express Entry CRS in June

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has declared that, starting from June 6, 2017 French speakers and applicants with a kin in Canada will get more points under the Express Entry Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). While these changes may not adjust the make-up of the pool profoundly, the additional points may have a constructive outcome to applicants who may get the new extra points.

Moreover, enlistment in the Canada Job Bank will become voluntary.

Quebec Skilled Worker Program to Accept 5,000 New Applications

The government of Quebec has made changes in the list of occupations that do not require an open advertisement to hire a foreign worker.

Some new jobs have been added to the already existing list.

An employer in Canada who wants to hire a foreign worker is required to put an advertisement for that position at multiples locations before it can apply for Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA). However, for certain positions this requirement has been uplifted for employers in Quebec.

The simplification of this process is called as 'facilitated' LMIA.

Aspiring immigrants who get the Invitation to Apply (ITA) by way of Canadian Experience Class (CEC) are not required to show settlement funds.
