Canada all set to help Temporary Foreign Workers and
Foreign Students to become Permanent Residents |
In response to the long processing time for Permanent
Residency applications, the Canadian government is
creating a new avenue of permanent immigration for a few
temporary visas holders and Work Permit & on Student
Permit in Canada without leaving the country.
Previously, they were asked to leave for the native
country before they could apply for Permanent Residency.
But with the proposed provision the temporary foreign
workers and foreign student who graduate from Canada may
be eligible for this new category on the basis of
Canadian Work Experience, Canadian Education and
Proficiency in English Language.
The Temporary Work Permit applicant may be eligible
under this new program if: -
The applicant has a valid Temporary Visa

Relevant education
-
Two years Canadian work experience
-
Occupation must be from National Occupation
Classifications (NOC) Skills Level 0 (management
Occupations, Skill Level A (professional occupations),
or Skill Level B (technical and skilled trades
-
Proficiency in English language i.e. the applicant may
communicate properly at workplace
-
Proof of funds are not mandatory
Foreign student may be eligible for Permanent Residency
if -
the student has completed at least 2 years of
post-secondary study program
-
at least 12 months of work experience under
post-graduate work permit program acquired after
graduation in Canada even without scoring 67 points
-
Occupation must fall under NOC Skills Level 0, A and B
-
Basic language skills
The initiative of introducing Canadian Experience Class
is to make our immigration system attractive and
accessible to individuals with diverse skills preferably
from Canada who already has the right skills in
obtaining a job are well versed with the Canadian labour
market. The Canadian Experience Class adds to other
initiatives to address labour market needs and to help
in the successful integration of newcomers. |
