Declaration made by Prime Minister of Quebec
The PM of Quebec, Jean Charest, had declared at the national assembly of Quebec.
“I have arrived from a trip to France where I had stopped at one of the city Brouage”.
It is the place where ‘Samuel de Champlain’ was born, an immigrant who was the founder of our nation.
Our nations “Quebec” was born from the 400 years of voyages and get together organized for the whole world.
From these meetings were born the communal wishes to live together, to live in French environment, to have equality between men and women, to separate the state and the religion from rest of the Canada and finally, to be able to adopt and share our common values.
On the behalf of Quebec people,I would like to thank M. Bouchard and Taylor who helped the citizens to help themselves so that they can live together.
“It’s our era”
In Quebec, there are two realities which give a particular character to this debate:-
The 1st reason is demographic; the francophone nation represents less than 3% of population of the continent.
The 2nd reason is historical; for more than 3 centuries the religious communities particularly, the Catholics have taken care of the sick people and educating the children.
With this revolution, our society has become secular and this change has taken place rapidly.
No society can ever succeed by withdrawing itself. So we must continue to welcome people so that our nation and our economy can continue to grow.
The Prime Minister also said that “Immigration is not a right but a privilege” and welcoming immigrants is a responsibility of every citizen of Quebec.
The PM of Quebec, Jean Charest concluded by saying that “we all are not from the same origin, but we all have the same destiny, because we all are Quebec citizens”.
