Acute Shortage of Registered Nurses in Australia
Posted on:16 December 2011

Australia is facing a serious crunch in Skilled & Registered Nurses, thus the registered nurses interested to immigrate can apply under the General Skilled Migration Program (GSM). To qualify for an Australian visa, an applicant must fulfill prerequisites for GSM, clear immigration Points Test and pass occupation skills assessment.

Registered Nurses is one of the occupations that falls under the Skilled Occupation List scheme and since Australia is facing severe shortage of Registered Nurses, this is a beneficial opportunity for the eligible applicants to apply for an Australian visa.

There has been a great demand for Indian Skilled Workers & Professionals in Australia, and this opportunity to immigrate to Down Under or the Land of Kangaroos for eligible applicants must be used to their advantage.

Citing the situation in Australia, Lt. Col. BS Sandhu (Retd.), CMD of WWICS Group said, "This is a bright opportunity for all the eligible aspirants to immigrate to Australia at the earliest since the country is facing an extreme shortage of Registered Nurses. All those looking forward to immigrate to this country must submit their applications soon."

Registered Nurse applicants with at least a bachelor degree or a combination of qualifications and experience are eligible to apply for an Australian visa.

To apply for a visa under this occupation, you will need to be assessed by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMC).

In addition, it is mandatory for all internationally-qualified nurses and midwives without any New Zealand and Australian registration to complete an English proficiency test. It is only after the National Nursing Competency Standards are met with by the nurses that they can be granted registration.

After securing a positive assessment letter, you are eligible to apply for the skilled migration visa, electronically, and undergo assessment points test to qualify for the visa program.

Walk-in to the nearest WWICS office for further details and get yourself assessed to apply for a visa!
