Posted- 27 November 2010
The Land Down Under is actively calling out to foreign students, as confirmed by the latest updates.
In a bid to revamp the education industry, which is considered as one of the most valuable export industries of Australia, the authorities are of the view that aggressive efforts should be made to attract more foreign students. Currently, the education industry of Australia is at an estimated worth AUD$ 18.5 billion.
It is reported that the educators met with the Immigration Minister Chris Bowen, Trade Minister Craig Emerson and the spokesman of the coalition government's universities, Brett Mason to discuss short-term and long-term changes so as to support and boost the education sector.
Some of proposed changes that are on the cards are- relaxation on student visas, speedier and more transparency in the processing of the applications.
Considering the latest developments, Col. BS Sandhu, CMD, WWICS Group said that the proposed changes like relaxation on visas, etc would definitely attract more foreign students to Australia.
He added that Australia has always been a favored education destination for the foreign students and if the proposed changes are implemented then Australia would emerge as one of the most competitive education countries globally.
