New Skilled Occupation Lists Announced

Effective July 1, 2011, Australia has announced new immigration changes to the Skilled
Migration Programs. As per the recently announced changes, new Skilled Occupation
Lists have been introduced and the qualifying criteria for the programs have also
been revised. As per the new changes, the qualifying points have been reduced to
65, which were earlier 120 points.
The various subclasses under the General Skilled Migrant Program includes:
- Skilled Independent Category Subclass 175
- Skilled Sponsored Subclass 176
- Skilled Regional Sponsored Visa Subclass 475
The skilled migrants, who desire to immigrate to Australia under General Skilled
Migrant Program need to satisfy the following threshold requirements:
- be under 50 years of age at the time of applying for
a visa;
- meet the threshold English language requirement of competent
English;
- nominate and hold a skilled assessment for an occupation
on the Skilled Occupation List at the time of lodging their application;
- provide evidence of recent skilled employment in a skilled
occupation or have recently completed the Australian Study requirement.
Considering the demand in mind, the Skilled Occupation List has been changed, wherein
various new occupations have been added. The newly introduced SOL is Schedule 1
& 2, replacing the earlier Schedule 3 & 4.

Engineers, Finance & Banking ,Teaching, IT, Media &
Multi media, Corporate Communication, Health Care (All type Doctors & Nurses), Dental,
Hospitality, Fine Arts, Film & Theatre, Trade persons like Mechanics, Welders, Carpenters,
Masons, Plumbers and many more…
