Canada Immigration Does Not Get Affected By Economic Downturn 17th Dec, 2009


The global economic downturn does not have any impact on Canada immigration policy. While other countries have cut down the immigration level, Canada is maintaining the Canada immigration level to fulfill its long term economic needs. Recently Jason Kenney, Canadian Minister of Citizenship, Immigration and Multiculturalism has put forward Citizenship and Immigration Canada’s 2009 Annual Report.

The minister said, the country is planning to accept between 240,000 to 265,000 new permanent residents in 2010. Canada will welcome more new immigrants than the average intake immigrants per year. The main focus is to strengthen the economic support that the country gets from Canada immigration. The minister also mentioned the applicant filed their case under the Federal Skilled Worker Program now are getting can expect the decision within six to twelve months compared to the old system that took more than 6 years. The minister concluded by saying the Government will continue to work with provinces, territories to fulfill the needs of immigrants for communities, employers & families.
