Year 2008 witnessed highest number of immigrants coming to Canada 2008

As per the official details announced by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada, the maple country have broken all records and never before allowed such huge number immigrants under as permanent and temporary residents in 2008.
This clearly indicates that Canada needs skilled professionals, business persons and students to contribute to the economic growth of the country, despite the global economic meltdown. As the global financial crisis evolves, Canada’s need for more and more immigrants has not been affected.
While in the neighbor country US, numbers of foreign job seekers are at their lowest levels since 2005, US has become tough in welcoming new immigrants and infact has witnessed huge unemployment, Canada still needs skilled professionals in skill shortage occupations as indicated by the labour market demand.

As per the official data Canada welcomed 247,202 permanent residents in 2008. The temporary foreign workers accounted for additional 193,061 and 79,459 foreign students resulting in a total of 519,722 newcomers in 2008
