A new Expression of Interest draw was conducted by Manitoba on May 11 for a provincial nomination and a total of 626 Letters of Advice to Apply were issued. It includes 151 candidates being picked up from the federal Express Entry pool.
As per Manitoba’s Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) a job seeker validation code was required from Express Entry candidates who were invited by way of Express Entry-linked Skilled Workers Overseas sub-stream. Along with this, a minimum of six months of recent work experience was also required in an occupation given in the MPNP’s In-Demand Occupations List.
The Express Entry candidates with the lowest rank who was invited had scored 562 points under the Manitoba’s Expression of Interest (EOI) ranking system.
An additional of 600 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System score was given to Express Entry candidates whose application was successfully received for provincial nomination.
In the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream a total of 267 candidates were issued the Letters of Advice to Apply, or LAAs, and the candidate with lowest rank who was selected had score 500 points in EOI ranking.
Moreover, 109 candidates in the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream were also issued LAAs. 602 was the score of the candidate with the lowest rank in this group.
To be selected a candidate need to have the following:
Work experience or past education in Manitoba or a close relative residing in the province.
A minimum of 6 months of recent experience in an occupation given in In-Demand Occupations list of Manitoba.
Declared a regional destination
A minimum of CLB 5 language proficiency unless work experience is mostly in a regulated occupation (minimum 7) or a compulsory trade (CLB 6)
99 LAAs were also issued in this draw under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative through the Skilled Workers Stream and 706 was the score of the candidate who was at the bottom of the list.
Strategic Recruitment Initiative comprises of:
Recruitment Missions – These are overseas immigration / employment fairs held by MPNP representatives and foreign skilled workers are interviewed in it. They are than invited to apply after a formal Expression of Interest (EOI) is submitted by them to the MPNP.
Exploratory Visits – People who have undergone a pre-approved Exploratory Visit and have cleared an interview with a program official may be invited by MPNP.
