New Brunswick Express Entry Category Reopened

The Express Entry Labour Market Stream of the province of New Brunswick was reopened temporarily to accept Expressions of Interest from eligible skilled workers who were having professional experience in any of the 14 priority occupations, which included seven positions related to tech.

The New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) published the update on May 1st and it was revealed that Express Entry Labour Market Stream will reopen for candidates who had work experience in the following 14 priority occupations:

  • Information systems analysts and consultants (NOC 2171)

  • Computer network technician (NOC 2281)

  • User support technicians (NOC 2282)

  • Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)

  • Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)

  • Computer programmers and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)

  • Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)

  • Cooks (NOC 6322)

  • Restaurant and food service managers (NOC 0631)

  • Accounting technicians and bookkeepers (NOC 1311)

  • Administrative assistants (NOC 1241)

  • Administrative officers (NOC 1221)

  • Elementary school and kindergarten teachers (NOC 4032)*
  • Secondary school teachers (NOC 4031)*

*This is for French language teachers only who can become licensed in New Brunswick.

Aspiring immigrants who want to immigrate through this stream might have attended one of the information sessions of NBPNP in the past 24 months, starting April 30th 2016.

The Express Entry Labour Market Stream of New Brunswick enables the NBPNP to make use of the Express Entry immigration selection system of the federal government and to give nomination to candidates who fulfill the specific demographic and labour market needs of New Brunswick.

Candidates who have been considered for the Expression of Interest for this category by NBPNP are the ones who score a minimum of 67 points out of 100 in the FSWC selection factors and meet the eligibility criteria for the Federal Skilled Worker Class.

An additional of 600 points are given in Comprehensive Ranking System to Express Entry candidates who get provincial nomination from New Brunswick.

It is the third time that the Express Entry New Brunswick Labour Market Stream has opened up since September 2017 and Information and Communications Technology workers have been targeted, among others.
