The Parent and Grandparent Program (PGP) from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will invite more sponsors of foreign parents and grandparents to deposit their application.
The next round of invitation will start from September 6th and will remain open for few days. It will be the second time in 2017 that the PGP will be opened by IRCC. The first time this program was opened was in April and potential sponsors who were not able to submit their application will now have a second change to submit their application.
The coming invitation will only welcome those potential sponsors to submit their Expression of Interest (EOI) who had applied in the previous opening, but were not invited to apply. In order to be accepted, the sponsors who are invited will be required to submit their application by December 8th.
Candidates who were sent the invitation during the first round, but were unable to submit their completed application form till the August 4th deadline, will not be able to submit their form for the upcoming round.
IRCC has also indicated that registration for entering the PGP 'Interest to Sponsor' pool will open again in early 2018 for potential sponsors. This will allow more potential sponsors to bring in their grandparent(s) and parent(s) as permanent resident to Canada.
A sponsor needs to be permanent resident or citizen of Canada, and should be able to fulfill the criteria for minimum income.
