Express Entry Draw #125:   4 ,September, 2019

The CRS cut-off score increases to 463

Canada issues a total of 3600 Invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence to candidates in a new Express Entry draw held on September 4.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in September 4th invitation round was set at 463, which is an increase of six points over the previous Express Entry draw that took place on August 20.

The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary source of skilled foreign workers and manages the profiles of candidates for three Federal High Skilled economic class immigration programs — the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class.

Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool, where they are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.

A set number of highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.

September 4th Express Entry draw is the 17th of 2019 and brings the total number of ITAs issued so far this year by Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to 59,800.

A tie break was applied by IRCC in the September 4 draw and the time stamp used was August 23, 2019, at 13:33:34 UTC, which means that all candidates with a CRS score of and above 463, who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an ITA in this invitation round.

Increase in the minimum CRS scores drawn may be partly attributed to the time elapsed between two invitation rounds. An elongated period between the draw allows the Express Entry pool more time to replenish with higher-scoring candidates, which can have the effect of raising the minimum CRS score.

Express Entry candidates with low CRS scores have a variety of options for increasing their points and the most valuable of which is to obtain a provincial nomination.

Candidates who received a provincial nomination are awarded an additional 600 points towards their CRS scores, which effectively guarantees them an ITA for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draw.
