ALBERTA EXPRESS ENTRY STREAM

Alberta Invited 374 Express Entry Candidates in September 25 Provincial Draw (WWICS: 14201910Ga1229)

Minimum CRS score increases to 400

The Canadian province of Alberta has recently published the results of its latest Express Entry Stream invitation round that was conducted on 25th September.

A total of 374 Express Entry candidates with a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400 and above received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canada Permanent Residence in September 25 draw.

ALBERTA EXPRESS ENTRY STREAM

The Alberta Express Entry Stream allows the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) to search the federal Express Entry pool for candidates who meet the stream’s eligibility requirements and invite them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

In order to be considered for a nomination through AINP’s Express Entry Stream, as well as many other Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), the first step is to create a profile in Federal Express Entry System.

No job offer or previous work experience in Alberta is mandatory to be eligible for the Alberta Express Entry Stream. However, applicants must be working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification priorities.

The AINP generally gives priority to candidates who:

  • have a job offer and/or work experience in the province;
  • hold a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • have a parent, child or sibling already living in the province.

Express Entry candidates with a provincial nomination receive an additional 600 points toward their CRS scores, which effectively increase their chances to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draw.

The September 25 draw saw a significant increase in cut-off score as compared to the previous draws, in which candidates with CRS scores as low as 300 received invitations. However, this cut-off score is much lower than the latest Federal Express Entry cut-off score of 464.

The latest provincial draw brings the number of express entry candidates invited by Alberta in 2019 to 6,088.
