Alberta Invites

Alberta invites 121 Express Entry candidates with CRS scores as low as 400 in its August 15th draw (WWICS: 02201909Ga1201)

Express Entry candidates were the focus of the latest draw held by the Canadian province of Alberta on August 15 in which it issued a total of 121 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to candidates with Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 400.

August 15th invitation round was also the second draw of August through the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program’s (AINP) Express Entry Stream, which allows the province to search the federal Express Entry system for candidates who meet the stream’s eligibility requirements and invites them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence.

In an earlier draw, which took place on August 7, Alberta issued 35 invitations to candidates with Express Entry CRS scores as low as 352.

In order to be considered for a nomination through AINP’s Express Entry Stream, as well as many other Express Entry-aligned Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs), the first step is to create a profile in Federal Express Entry System.

No job offer or previous work experience in Alberta is mandatory to be eligible for the Alberta Express Entry Stream. However, applicants must be working in an occupation that supports Alberta’s economic development and diversification priorities.

The AINP generally gives priority to candidates who:

  • have a job offer and/or work experience in the province;
  • hold a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • have a parent, child or sibling already living in the province.

The AINP has held total 28 draws since the Alberta Express Entry Stream’s creation just over a year ago and issued a total of 5,503 NOIs so far.

Express Entry candidates who receive a NOI from Alberta can apply for a provincial nomination and those who approved for a nomination receive additional 600 points towards their CRS scores, which effectively increase their chances to get an invitation to apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence in subsequent Express Entry draw.
