Alberta invites 294 Express Entry candidates in August 28th draw (WWICS: 13201909Ga1325)

        The recent selection round issued more than double number of invitations than previous draw

A total of 294 Express Entry candidates received invitations to apply for a provincial nomination in the latest Alberta Express Entry selection draw that took place on August 28.

Candidates with a minimum 400 points under Express Entry’s Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) received invitations in August 28th draw. This minimum CRS score was 38 points lower than the lowest score drawn through a federal Express Entry invitation round so far this year, which was 438.

The 294 invitations issued in this invitation round more than doubled the 121 issued in the previous draw that took place on August 15.

With this draw, Alberta has now issued a total of 5,236 invitations to Express Entry candidates over the course of 23 draws so far this year.

Alberta Express Entry Stream

The Alberta Express Entry Stream allows the province to search the federal Express Entry system for candidates who meet the stream’s eligibility requirements and invites them to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence. It also provides a pathway to permanent residence for eligible Express Entry candidates with strong ties to the province or who are working in an occupation that supports the province’s “economic development and diversification priorities,” among other factors.

There is currently no list of eligible occupations available. However, The AINP generally gives priority to candidates who:

  • have a job offer and/or work experience in the province;
  • hold a degree from a Canadian post-secondary institution and a valid job offer; or
  • have a parent, child or sibling already living in the province

The minimum CRS score required has dropped to 300 on four occasions since the stream’s creation in June 2018. While four other invitation rounds had a minimum CRS requirement of 301 and four invited candidates with CRS scores of 302 and above.
