Express Entry

Canada invited 3,500 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence in February 5 draw (WWICS: 06202002Ga1446)

Express Entry Draw #136:   5-February-2020

Canada immigration issued 3,500 invitations to apply (ITAs) for Canadian permanent residence to Express Entry candidates in latest invitation round conducted on February 5.

The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off threshold in this draw was 472 – an increase of one point over the previous invitation round, which occurred on January 22.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied a tie break rule in the November 13 draw and the time stamp used was January 30, 2020, at 07:36:26 UTC. This means that all candidates with CRS scores of 472 and above, who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an ITA in this invitation round.

With 3500 invites issued in this draw, Canada has now invited 10,300 Express Entry candidates to apply for Canadian permanent residence in 2020.

As of January 31, there were a total of 142,491 immigration candidates in the Express Entry pool. Majority of these candidates (27,639) have CRS scores between 301- 350, whereas a total of 19,861 candidates have CRS scores between 451 to 600.

Express Entry candidates with low CRS scores can increase their points through a variety of options, which include:

  • Obtain a provincial nomination by applying through Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), which award them additional 600 points toward their CRS scores.
  • Improve their language proficiency level
  • Secure a LMIA-approved job offer
  • Completing an additional level of education
  • Get more work experience (in Canada & outside)
  • Get Canadian Study experience
  • Get additional points for spouse

The candidates, who received invitations in the February 5th draw, need to submit their complete application for Canadian permanent residence to IRCC within 60 days.
