CRS cut-off score rises to 475 in latest Express Entry draw held on October 30 (WWICS: 30201910Ga1218)

Express Entry Draw #129:   30-October-2019

3,900 candidates received invitations to apply for Canadian Permanent residence

The Government of Canada issued 3,900 invitations to Express Entry candidates with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 475 in a new draw held on October 30.

The October 30th invitation round brings the total number of invitations to apply (ITAs) issued by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) so far this year through Canada’s Express Entry system to 71,700.

The Express Entry system is Canada’s main source of skilled foreign workers, which manages the applications under Canada’s three Federal High Skilled economic-class immigration categories —the Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class, and Canadian Experience Class.

Eligible candidates enter the Express Entry pool and are issued a CRS score based on their age, education, skilled work experience and proficiency in English or French, among other factors.

The highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for Canadian permanent residence through regular draws from the pool.

Increase in the minimum CRS scores drawn may be partly attributed to the fact that a full 28 days passed between all-program draws.

An elongated period between the draw allows the Express Entry pool more time to replenish with higher-scoring candidates, which can have the effect of raising the minimum CRS score.

As in the previous draws, a tie break was applied by IRCC in the October 30 draw as well. The time stamp used was August 29, 2019, at 03:50:24 UTC, which means that all candidates with a CRS score of and above 475, who had submitted their profile in the Express Entry pool before the said date and time, received an ITA in this invitation round.

The candidates, who received invitations in the October 30 draw, now have 60 days to submit their complete application for Canadian permanent residence to IRCC.
