Manitoba Issued 196

Manitoba issued 196 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence in an Expression of Interest (EOI) draw held on May 23.

This invitation round brings the total invitations issued to skilled worker candidates in 2019 to 4,320.

Of the total 196 invitations issued, 119 went to candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream while 60 immigration candidates were invited under Skilled Workers Overseas stream. Another 17 invitations were issued through the International Education Stream to international graduates of Manitoba post-secondary institutions.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), which allows the province of Manitoba to nominate immigration candidates with skills required by employers in the province; is recognized as one of Canada’s most active and successful provincial nominee programs and has assisted over 130,000 newcomers settle in Manitoba since its establishment in 1998.

Express Entry candidates invited

Manitoba said 27 invitations issued in the May 23 draw went to Express Entry candidates who had a job seeker validation code and experience in an occupation on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List.

The Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream is open to qualified temporary foreign workers and international student graduates who are currently working in the province of Manitoba and have been offered a permanent, full-time job by a Manitoba employer.

The Skilled Workers Overseas Stream allows the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) to nominate eligible immigration candidates who are living outside Canada and have an established connection to Manitoba, for example the support of family members or friends, previous education or work experience in the Manitoba or an invitation under one of the MPNP’s Strategic Recruitment Initiatives.

All 60 Skilled Workers Overseas candidates, who received invitations in the May 23rd draw, were invited directly through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative.

The minimum score required for an invitation in the May 23rd EOI draw was:

  • Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 548
  • Skilled Workers Overseas: 506
