Manitoba invites 360 skilled workers and international grads in latest EOI draw (WWICS: 13201909Ga1320)

32 Express Entry candidates among those who received invitations in the latest draw

Manitoba published the details of its latest Expression of Interest (EOI) draw that took place on August 15. Skilled foreign workers and international graduates were the main focus of this invitation round.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued 360 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) for a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence through its three major immigration pathways – Skilled Worker in Manitoba, Skilled Worker Overseas and the International Education Stream.

Of the 360 LAAs issued, a total of 32 went to candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system.

The MPNP, which allows Manitoba to nominate eligible foreign nationals for Canadian permanent residence, issued a record 5,207 nominations in 2018. 98 per cent of these nominations went to candidates in its two skilled worker categories.

This draw brings the total number of invitations issued by Manitoba so far this year to 5,810 (in 16 EOI draws).

A total of 241 LAAs went to candidates in the Skilled Worker in Manitoba category– a stream  which is open to qualified temporary foreign workers and international student graduates who are currently working in the province and have been offered a permanent, full-time job with their Manitoba employer.

The lowest-ranked candidate invited through the Skilled Worker in Manitoba Stream in August 15 draw had a score of 542.

Another 83 candidates in the Skilled Worker Overseas category with a minimum EOI score of 685 were also invited in the latest draw.

The Skilled Workers Overseas candidates issued LAAs in this invitation round were invited directly through a Strategic Recruitment Initiative, which include overseas recruitment missions organized by the MPNP in association with Manitoba employers.

The MPNP also issued a total of 36 LAAs to International Education Stream candidates in the August 15 draw. This Stream is designed for Manitoba graduates who fit the province’s labour market needs.
