Express-Entry-draw 30th Jan 2019

New Express Entry draw caps record January, CRS threshold hits lowest point since 2017

Express Entry Draw #110:  30th  January, 2019

IRCC invited 3350 Express Entry candidates with a CRS score of 438

A new Express Entry invitation round held on January 30th brings the total number of invitations issued this month to 11,150, making this the biggest start to a year since the Express Entry system’s introduction in 2015. A total of 3,350 candidates with a CRS score of 438 or more will receive an invitation to apply (ITA) following this Express Entry draw.

The minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in today’s draw – 438, is a five-point reduction over the previous draw that took place on January 23rd and the lowest minimum score for an all-program draw through Canada’s Express Entry system since October 4, 2017.

The shorter than usual one-week interval between last week and this week’s invitation rounds contributes to a reduction in the CRS points in this draw as there was less time for new candidates to enter the Express Entry pool.

As in recent draws, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) applied a tie-break for January 30th draw. The time stamp used was April 26, 2018, at 05:00:46 UTC, meaning all candidates with a CRS score of and above 438, who entered their profile in the Express Entry pool before this date and time, received an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in this draw.

With more than 11,000 invitations issued so far, 2019 seems set to be another big year for Express Entry, as IRCC ramps up invitations to reach its economic immigration targets for 2019 and 2020.
