One of the most famous Provincial Nominee Program streams aligned with Express Entry for immigrating to Canada, the Human Capital Priorities Stream from Ontario issued new Notifications of Interest on January 22 to candidates who were eligible in the federal Express Entry pool.
This round of invitations that is carried out by Ontario under the Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream in particular is quite innovative for a number of reasons. This was the first round of Notifications of Interests (NOIs) to be carried out in 2018. The Government of Ontario provided high level of details about this NOI invitation round.
The total number of new NOIs issued by the province were revealed, which stood at 340. The province also disclosed the federal Express Entry ranking scores of the candidates who were selected. In the January 22 invitation round, NOI were issued to candidates who had scored 440 to 446 points in the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).
In this round, candidates who had scored below 440 CRS points were not issued the NOI in this round. It was announced by the government of Ontario that it will be issuing NOIs on a regular basis under the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP), who fulfill the eligibility criteria and have a score above 400 points.
Another important point that was disclosed by the province was the date on which profile was submitted in the Express Entry. During this time period, the candidates who had submitted their profile between January 1st and 19th, 2018 were given the NOIs.
A major component of the OINP is the HCP stream, one of the most popular PNPs from Canada. Applicants who are successful in the HCP stream are given 600 additional CRS points, which increases their chances considerably to receive the Invitation to Apply (ITA) and become permanent resident of Canada.
The working of HCP stream from Ontario has a unique way, as it looks into the Express Entry pool for candidates who are eligible and can settle successfully in the province and issue NOI to selected candidates. It is like an invitation to apply from the province through the OINP.
The immigration authorities in Ontario made the announcement for HCP stream reopening on Thursday, January 18th.
