Ontario holds its second Tech Draw; invites 1,773 Express Entry candidates with tech experience and CRS scores as low as 435 (WWICS: 02201908Ga1509)

Ontario issued a total of 1773 invitations to Express Entry Candidates with work experience in one of six tech occupations and Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores as low as 435 in its second Tech Draw on Thursday, August 1.

Express Entry candidates, who have received invitations or Notifications of Interest (NOIs), have work experience in one of these six tech occupations:

  • Software engineers and designers (NOC 2173)
  • Computer programmers and interactive media developers (NOC 2174)
  • Computer engineers (NOC 2147)
  • Web designers and developers (NOC 2175)
  • Database analysts and data administrators (NOC 2172)
  • Computer and information systems managers (NOC 0213)

The August 1 tech draw brings the total number of NOIs issued by Ontario through its tech draws to 3,396 since their introduction in early July.

Conducted through the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) Human Capital Priorities Stream, Tech Draws allow the province to search the federal Express Entry pool and invite eligible candidates to apply for provincial nomination.

While many applicants with IT backgrounds and high CRS scores have received Canadian permanent residence through Express Entry, a number of provincial immigration streams offer candidates with lower ranking scores a chance to improve their rank and obtain an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canadian permanent residence.

Candidates, who received invitations in this Tech Draw, had created their Express Entry profiles between August 1, 2018, and August 1, 2019.
