Ontario invited 242 immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination in its first Express Entry-linked draw of 2020 (WWICS: 15202001Ga1533)

The Canadian province of Ontario issued 242 invitations to immigration candidates to apply for provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence in its first Express Entry-linked draw of 2020 that took place on 9th January.

The invitations, commonly known as Notifications of Interest (NOI), were issued through Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream.

Express Entry candidates who received invites in the January 9th draw had a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score between 433 and 472.

Ontario’s French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream is one of the popular immigration streams under the OINP that is aligned with federal Express Entry system. The stream offers the French-speaking skilled workers with strong English language abilities, an opportunity to permanently live and work in Ontario.

In order to apply under French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream, applicant must have a valid profile in Express Entry system and meet all the mandatory federal and provincial requirements specified by the OINP.

Among other requirements, candidates must demonstrate French language proficiency equivalent to a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher and meet additional requirements, including having sufficient funds to settle in Ontario.

However, candidates do not require a job offer to apply under French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream.

The OINP searches Express Entry pool and sends Notifications of Interest to the candidates whose profile corresponds best to province’s needs and labour market.

Candidates, who get nominated by the OINP, receive an additional 600 points towards their CRS scores, thus guaranteeing an Invitation to Apply (ITA) in subsequent Express Entry draw.

All candidates, who received invites in January 9th invitation round, now have 45 calendar days to submit their complete application for a provincial nomination to the OINP.
