The maritime province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued a total of 122 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination to immigration candidates in its Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact categories in a new draw held on September 19.
The Prince Edward Provincial Nominee Program (PEI PNP) issued a total of 109 invitations to the Express Entry and Labour Impact streams. However, the PEI PNP did not disclose the specific number of invitations issued to candidates under these both streams.
Another 13 candidates under Business Impact: Work Permit Stream also received invitations in this draw.
September 19 draw also brings the total number of invitations issued by the PEI PNP to candidates in both the Express Entry and Labour Market Impact categories since the start of 2019 to 1,031.
EXPRESS ENTRY CATEGORY
PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is for candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system, which allows the province to nominate Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class candidates for Canadian permanent residence.
Express Entry candidates who would like to be considered for a provincial nomination from the province need to create a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.
These profiles are given a score based on the information provided in their EOI based on factors such as education, work experience and proficiency in English or French. The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.
The PEI PNP generally gives priority to Express Entry candidates who are currently living and working in the province.
LABOUR IMPACT CATEGORY
PEI PNP’s Labour Impact Category is not aligned with the Express Entry system and is designed for foreign nationals with a valid job offer in the province and support from a PEI employer. Candidates in this category may fall under three possible streams: Skilled Worker (in PEI and outside Canada), Critical Worker and International Graduate.
PEI PNP’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream is for individuals interested in owning and operating a business on the island.
This stream also operates on a points-based EOI system. The lowest-ranked candidate who received invitation in the September 19 draw had a score of 115.
The PEI PNP’s next EOI draw is scheduled for October 17, 2019.
