Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued 130 new invitations to candidates in its Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact immigration categories in a draw held on April 18.
PEI holds monthly draws for immigration candidates who have submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI) to its immigrant nominee program, the PEI PNP.
The April 18th draw brings the total number of invitations issued so far this year by the PEI PNP to 570.
Express Entry and Labour Impact invitations
A total of 113 invitations went to Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates who can now apply to PEI’s provincial nominee program, the PEI PNP, for a nomination for Canadian permanent residence.
Express Entry candidates, who aim to get a provincial nomination from PEI, need to first complete a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.
These profiles are given an EOI score out of 100 based on various factors including education, work experience and proficiency in English or French. The highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.
Express Entry candidates who receive a provincial nomination from Prince Edward Island (PEI) are awarded an additional 600 points toward their Express Entry ranking score.
Another 17 entrepreneur candidates received invitation through the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream category and they can now apply to the PEI PNP for a letter of support for a temporary work permit.
PEI’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream is for qualified foreign entrepreneurs with business ownership or eligible management experience who want to invest in and run a business in Prince Edward Island.
The stream also operates on an EOI basis. The lowest-ranked candidate invited in the April 18th draw under this category had a score of 107.
