Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued new invitations to immigration candidates under its immigrant nominee program, the PEI PNP, in a draw held on March 21.
A total of 150 invitations went to candidates in PEI’s Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact immigration categories in March 21 invitation round, which brings the total number of invitations issued this year through the PEI PNP to 440.
131 Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates received invitations in this draw who can now apply to PEI’s provincial nominee program, the PEI PNP, for a nomination for Canadian permanent residence. However, the province did not disclose the breakdown of these invitations.
Another 19 invitation went to entrepreneur candidates under the Business Impact: Work Permit Stream category who can now apply to the PEI PNP for a letter of support for a temporary work permit.
Express Entry, Labour Impact invitations
PEI’s Express Entry category is linked to the federal Express Entry system- a popular immigration system which manages the pool of candidates for three of Canada’s main economic immigration categories — the Federal Skilled Worker Class (FSW), Federal Skilled Trades Class (FST) and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).
Interested Express Entry candidates who want to be considered for a provincial nomination from the province need to first complete a separate Expression of Interest (EOI) profile with the PEI PNP.
These profiles are given an EOI score out of 100 based on various factors including education, work experience and proficiency in English or French. The highest-ranked candidates are then invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.
PEI’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream is designed for qualified foreign entrepreneurs with business ownership or appropriate management experience who would like to invest in and run a business in the province. This stream also operates on an EOI basis.
The lowest-ranked candidates invited under Business Impact: Work Permit Stream in the March 21 draw had a score of 110.
