In the latest provincial draw held on October 17, 2019, Prince Edward Island (PEI) nominated 158 new immigration candidates in the Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact categories of its Provincial Nominee Program – PEI PNP.
A total of 146 invites went to candidates through the PEI PNP’s Express Entry and Labour Impact categories while the remaining 12 invitations issued to candidates under PEI’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream, with a points threshold of 122.
However, the PEI PNP did not disclose the specific number of invitations issued to candidates under these both streams neither it revealed the minimum Expression of Interest (EOI) score required.
PEI PNP’s Express Entry Category is for candidates with a profile in the federal Express Entry system, which allows the province to nominate Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class candidates for Canadian permanent residence.
In order to be considered for a provincial nomination, Express Entry candidates need to create a separate EOI profile with the PEI PNP.
These profiles are given a score based on the information provided in their EOI based on factors such as education, work experience and proficiency in English or French.
The highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for a provincial nomination through regular draws.
PEI PNP’s Labour Impact Category is not aligned with the Express Entry system and is designed for foreign nationals with a valid job offer in the province and support from a PEI employer. Candidates in this category may fall under three possible streams: Skilled Worker (in PEI and outside Canada), Critical Worker and International Graduate.
PEI has now issued a total of 1,177 invitations to apply for a provincial nomination for Canadian Permanent residence through its Express Entry and Labour Impact categories in 2019.
The PEI PNP’s Business Impact: Work Permit Stream is for individuals who are interested in owning and operating a business in PEI. A total of 168 invitations have now been issued to foreign entrepreneurs by the PEI PNP through this stream in 2019.
