Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates among those who received an invitation
The Canadian province of Prince Edward Island (PEI) invited 135 immigration candidates in its Express Entry, Labour Impact and Business Impact streams in a new Expression of Interest (EOI) draw held July 18 under its immigrant nominee program, the PEI PNP.
A total of 118 out of the 135 invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued to candidates under the province’s Express Entry and Labour Impact categories.
The PEI PNP is linked to the federal Express Entry system and allows the province to nominate candidates under Federal Skilled Worker Class, Federal Skilled Trades Class and Canadian Experience Class for Canadian permanent residence.
PEI’s Labour Impact Category is not aligned with the Express Entry system and is further divided into three streams — Skilled Workers (in PEI and overseas), International Graduates and Critical Workers. In order to apply under this Category, candidates need to be working in PEI or have an eligible full-time, long-term job offer from an employer in the province, among other eligibility criteria.
Business candidates, who want to apply through the province’s Entrepreneur: Work Permit Stream, need to first apply for a letter of support from the PEI PNP for a temporary work permit. Those candidates who accomplish the terms and conditions of their business performance agreement are then awarded a provincial nomination for Canadian permanent residence from PEI.
The PEI PNP does not provide the minimum score for Express Entry and Labour Impact candidates in the July 18 invitation round. However, the minimum score for Business Impact candidates was 112.
